According To Science, If You Want To Have A Happy Marriage Then You Need To Have A Hot Wife

A new study suggests that men with attractive wives have the most satisfying marriages.
For this study, the Huffington Post reports, psychologist Andrea Meltzer monitored over 450 newlyweds over the course of four years.
Meltzer and her team discovered that having an attractive wife does increase the chances for marital satisfaction, but only for men.
It seems that men let their spouses looks determine the quality of their marriage much more than women do.

“The significant effect of wives’ attractiveness on husbands’ satisfaction was significantly stronger than the nonsignificant effect of husbands’ attractiveness on wives’ satisfaction, indicating that partner physical attractiveness played a larger role in predicting husbands’ marital satisfaction than it did in predicting wives’ marital satisfaction,” she wrote.
The more attractive wives reported high levels of satisfaction as well because their husbands were so happy with them, and we know why.
A similar study conducted at the Relationship Institute at UCLA in 2008 yielded almost the same results.
In this study, researchers proposed that men who felt they had “lucked out” by marrying attractive wives were happier and thus more likely to take better care of their wives.
They found that this happiness was reciprocated by their wives, who were satisfied with their marriages due to their husbands’ constant displays of satisfaction with their looks.
“The husbands seemed to be basically more committed, more invested in pleasing their wives when they felt that they were getting a pretty good deal,” study author Benjamin Karney explained, according to the Huffington Post.
The opposite occurred, however, when the husbands felt that they were better looking than their wives.
“They didn’t seem to be quite as motivated to help out their wives when they were more attractive than their wives,” Karney wrote.
