Miley Cyrus Crowned MTV's Artist Of The Year

Miley Cyrus has had an interesting 2013 to say the least.
As it comes to an end the 21 year-old has been crowned MTV's Artist of the Year.
The cable TV network made the announcement on Tuesday (Dec 10th).
Unsparingly a big reason why she received the accolade was due to her controversial MTV Video Music Award duet with Robin Thicke.

The young singer grinded and twerked her way onto Thicke's crotch during a performance of his summer hit 'Blurred Lines'.
It was one of the most watched cultural events of 2013 and was the most watched MTV video on the company's various websites.
"She is the third artist to receive the distinction of being named MTV's Best Artist of the Year with past honorees including Katy Perry (2012) and One Direction (2011)," MTV said in a statement announcing the results.
Cyrus was shot to fame in a Disney television series called 'Hanna Montana' but the year of 2013 seems to be the year she finally loses the squeaky clean teen image, as her performances, songs and wardrobe choices would suggest.
The 'Party in the U.S.A' singer released 'Bangerz' this past October and it shot straight to No.1 which featured two chart topping singles, 'Wrecking Ball' and We Can't Stop'.
Cyrus even reached the list of Barbara Walters Most Fascinating People of 2013 and her MTV artist page is the most-visited of the year.
Cyrus seems the perfect recipient of the coveted award and the closing facto may have been her own documentary aired on MTV titled, 'Miley: The Movement'.

Below is MTV's top 10 artists of 2013:
1. Miley Cyrus

3. Justin Timberlake
4. Kanye West
