Hundreds of widows Monday 16,2015, rose from a marathon praying and fasting session in Owerri placing curses on Governor Rochas Okorocha and a number of Ndi Eze led by Eze Samuel Ohiri for peddling falsehood of and dangerous propaganda that erroneously alleged that they carried a mock coffin during their recent peaceful protest against the incessant attacks on one of their own.
The widows resorted to placing of curses on Okorocha exco members and Ndi Eze for portraying them in bad light, which was the culmination of their fasting and praying embarked upon aftermath of the ugly incident during which thugs loyal to Governor Okorocha unleashed terror, dehumanise and dispossess them of their personal effects.
At the break of the fasting and praying session on Monday, the leader of Imo widows, Mrs Ijeoma Nwabueze led the others to curse the leadership of Eze Ohiri led Council of Ndi Eze praying also that in the event the allegation of parading a mock coffin is true, then whatever Ndi Eze Imo wish of them must come to past.
On the other hand, they prayed that since they are very innocent of the several accusation of carrying mock coffin against Okorocha, the Almighty God who is the husband of the widows should visit the wife of Okorocha and the wives of Ndieze Imo their fate.
Others who spoke at the session include, Mrs Edith Anyiwo, Mrs. Anthonia who is a representative of Orlu zone, Martina Ejimmadu from Okigwe zone and Mrs. Ijeoma Nwabueze from Owerri amongst others.
Among those who attended the praying and fasting summit include those who sustained several degrees of such as Augustine Achononu from Ahiazu Mbaise, Onuoha Tesla from Orlu, Julie Akanwa from Ahiazu and Calista Nmerem from Isu LGA.
In addition to the curses they placed on Ndieze Imo led by Eze Sam Ohiri, the association of widows placed curses on Eze Chudume Okoro and the thugs who were moblized by Okorocha's aides to flog and inflict several degrees of injuries on them.
They equally implored the wrath of the God of widows against the hoodlum who descended on helpless widows mercilessly and their leading partner in Commissioner Kenneth Emelu, Chidi Ibeh and Chairperson of SUBEB, Gertrude Oduka who manufacturers the blatant lie that the widows were found with a mock coffin thus deceiving Ndi Eze into believing the ruse.
They further swore that the God of the widow will avenge for them and fight their battle, "any Governor who sponsored the brutalisation of defenceless widows will never rule Imo state again and called on all widows everywhere in Imo state to reject the present insensitive administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
It could be recalled that the Chairman of Owerri zone Traditional Rulers Council, made up of 9 Local Government Areas, Eze Chidubem Okoro led the group in a prayer session at Okigwe road Wethderal roundabout, for the cleansing of the land and for God to bless Imo state, as he disclosed that in Igboland widows are not expected to cry in the public nor carry casket.
