Two die as cultists clash in Ogun



Vanguard reports that two persons lost their lives yesterday during a cult clash between members of Eye (Air lords) and Aiye (Black Axe) confraternities  at Aleke Oke-sopin, Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State.
The State Police command, which confirmed the incident, said it had arrested three suspected cult members.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said some dangerous weapons recovered from the groups include cutlasses, pairs of scissors, two guns, some expended and live cartridges, their groups’ paraphernalia and some charms.
Adejobi also said corpses of one Abiodun Adeniye, 28, and Taiwo Yusuf, 24, who were shot dead during the fracas have been kept in a mortuary in Ijebu-Ode for post-mortem examination.
He said “the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye has however directed all relevant anti-crime teams in the command to relocate temporarily to Ijebu axis for adequate protection of lives and property and to curtail any cult clashes and other social vices.
The police boss appealed to the people of Ijebu Ode and Ogun State to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to succeed in the war against cultism in the state and provide security to all and sundry in the state.
